The Giro Montaro MTB Helmet II (MIPS) is a fully-featured mountain bike helmet created for hard-riding trail riders who demand the finest protection. 

When you’re in the flow of a trail, all is well and life is great. But it’s not always going to be that way, with crashing an almost inevitable part of mountain biking. If you do crash, the Montaro MTB Helmet II (MIPS) has a raft of features to keep your head safer.

Protection starts with the EPS foam liner. This provides the shock-absorbing properties needed to protect against injury when you bang your head. Roll Cage™ reinforcement also maintains structural strength and stability during a crash. The MTB-specific shape ensures greater coverage across the whole head too. 

Covering the liner is a durable polycarbonate shell. This is bonded directly to the EPS Liner, creating a strong and durable helmet that can fend off the knocks from trail overgrowth. To this Giro then adds MIPS. 

MIPS (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) 

The Mips system is designed to provide added safety for helmets in many accidents. For certain impacts, the Mips system can reduce harmful rotational motion that might otherwise be transferred to the user’s head.

Rotational motion is a common cause of concussions in oblique hits to the head. In a crash, the Mips system is designed to move slightly inside the helmet to help redirect forces away from the head.

Setting the standard for ease of adjustment, stability and comfort, the Roc Loc® 5 Air MIPS System ensures you always get the right fit of your helmet. Integrated with the MIPS system it allows for precise adjustment, with both fore-aft tilt and single-hand dial adjustment.
